Responsibilities
The Lead Central Service Technician is responsible for the supervision of operations during the reprocessing of all sterile and non-sterile materials/supplies, instruments and equipment for surgery and other hospital units. Independently runs the department on off-shifts and weekends or in the absence of the manager. Orients new hires. Maintains the schedule and daily assignments for their shift. Assists in reduction of supply and instrument costs. He/she is responsible for manual cleaning and decontamination, operating the mechanical washers and sonic units, testing autoclaves for efficiency and maintaining compliance records. Responsible for coordinating SPD/OR projects and effectively communicates with the Surgical Supply Coordinator. He/she will be in charge of the recall process as needed. As a certified lead technician, the lead technician will also assist in the education, training and evaluation process of other staff (e.g., new hires) with respect to quality assurance, performance improvement and departmental compliance.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- High school diploma/GED required.
- Over 3 to 5 years of experience as a Central Service Technician or related position required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- HSPA CRCST certification upon hire required.
